Course description

Every student has a unique story to tell. This personal essay  workshop will provide high schoolers with a personalized approach to writing that is motivating, rigorous, and memorable as they write one of the most important essays of their lives: the common application personal college essay. Through this lab, students engage in a series of exercises to learn from other great writers and rich personal essays, discover their own distinguishing stories, unique character traits and craft their own writer’s voice. They use their work in the course to write a compelling essay that highlights their humanity, accomplishments and aspirations.
